"Let's Play with Clay"-Intro to Polymer Clay

No previous polymer clay experience is necessary for this quick, fun workshop. Techniques covered include an introduction to polymer clay, how to condition the clay demonstration, what tools are needed, and then we will make “simple canes” for beads. We will talk about baking, sanding and buffing the baked beads. We will also discuss the design process when making a necklace. Camilla will demonstrate many techniques and check the progress of students while they work with the clay. Camilla will share with you her enthusiasm for working with polymer clay and provide many tips to help you along. If time permits we will make, bake, sand and buff the beads and then make a necklace. Students may want to bring a snack and a beverage for a short break while we bake (time permitting).

Class Material Provided:
-3 or 4 colors of 2oz Premo Polymer Clay (already conditioned)
-rubber gloves
-plastic wrap
-work area wipes
-sand paper
-plastic container for sanding and taking beads home.

Tools Provided:
-tissue blade
-work surface
-acrylic roller
-needle tool
-pasta machine
-baking oven
-card stock for baking beads.

All work tools needed during the workshop will be provided by Camilla
**These tools will be collected and returned to Camilla at the end of this workshop
